The Union of Arab Banks is holding a forum entitled ‘Drying up the Sources of Terrorism Financing’ on 14-15 May 2015 in Beirut, Lebanon, under the patronage of HE Nihad Hanged, Minister of Interior and Municipalities in Lebanon, and in the presence of HE the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers of the Arab Interior, Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Kuman.

Among the topics in focus at this forum:

Terrorist financing sources and the development of money transfer methods.

  • Laws and regulations and investigations of law enforcement authorities.
  • The appropriateness and adequacy of Arab legislation and regulations concerning the financing of terrorism with international standards.
  • The extent of adaptation by banks and regulatory authorities and executive with the recent changes in the financing of terrorism mechanisms.

In addition practical cases will be presented in the framework of workshops and Arab experiences in the fight against terrorism.

The Union of Arab Banks aims to shed light on the mechanisms and means to dry up the sources of terrorist financing within the private sector in cooperation with the public sector and security agencies.

The forum will review actions that can be taken to strengthening cooperation among Arab countries in this area to offset the risks of undermining economic development, investment efforts, and stability.
