Two Republican lawmakers are raising questions about a decision to lease office space for the Census Bureau in a building owned by the Falls Church, Virginia mosque, Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center.

Two of the Sept. 11, 2001 hijackers worshiped at Dar al-Hijrah. One of its former imams, Anwar al-Awlaqi, is a leader for Al Qaeda in Yemen. Maj. Nidal M. Hasan, the Fort Hood, Tex., shooting suspect, attended Dar al-Hijrah when al-Awlaqi was imam and corresponded with him after the cleric left the United States for Yemen. Although he remains a U.S. citizen, al-Awlaqi has been added to a list of suspected terrorists the CIA is authorized to kill.

  1. Let’s hope the lease is cover to help the feds bug/spy on al-Hijrah. Or am I giving the government too much credit?

If we’re using the Census Bureau for the kind of stuff, then things are even worse than we thought.
