KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: MP Mohammed Hayef Al-Mutairi on Sunday threatened to grill Minister of Communications Abdulrahman Al-Ghunaim if he fails to take tangible steps to address three major issues concerning his ministry. Al-Mutairi asked the minister to take decisive steps to start the development of the coastal lines along Kuwait University (KU), closure of some ‘immoral’ websites like www.youtube.com, and correct violations found in contracts signed by telecommunications companies and the ministry, especially violations against the Islamic Sharia. On the pornographic materials found in www.youtube.com — a popular video sharing website, Al-Mutairi asserted this is unacceptable in Kuwait, especially the pictures of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his wives. He asked the government to follow the example of Turkey and China, which ordered the closure of this website until the ‘youtube’ officials succumbed to the demands of both countries.
