Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed Backs Liverpool Club Bid, FT Says
By Will McSheehy

April 29 (Bloomberg) — Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, is taking a close personal interest in one of his investment companies’ attempts to buy Liverpool Football Club, the Financial Times reported, without citing anyone.

Dubai International Capital LLC Chief Executive Officer Sameer al-Ansari, a self-professed Liverpool fan, has long been thought the prime mover behind Dubai’s bid for the U.K. club, the FT said.

Sheikh Mohammed has been a Liverpool fan since the 1980s and his son, Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed al-Maktoum, is a fanatical supporter, the FT said.
