Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has a long and extensive history in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

We consistently act on some of the most high profile matters in the region for a wide range of clients, including regional state government entities, international financial institutions and international and domestic corporations, across a range of industry sectors and Middle East jurisdictions.

Our practice comprises over 30 lawyers, and we are licensed to act as an international law firm in the UAE and Bahrain. We also have a dedicated Saudi practice group with lawyers based in Riyadh who are able to provide local Saudi law advice. In addition, we have a strong network of local law firms across the region to advise on any other relevant laws.

Our principal areas of focus are corporate, including M&A (public and private), privatisations, securities and regulatory issues; oil and gas and other energy projects; transport and infrastructure; construction and property development; real estate acquisitions; asset and project financings; banking transactions; capital markets; funds; IPOs; and litigation and arbitration.

The quality of our team is consistently recognised by external publications and other independent sources:

  • M&A Team of the Year – IFLR Middle East Awards, 2006 and 2007;
  • M&A Deal of the Year – IFLR Middle East Awards, 2006 and 2007;
