Agra, April 26 A fatwa issued by Darul Uloom of Deoband has prohibited Muslims from donating their eyes or getting an eye transplant.In a reply to a query of Qazi Saiyyed Mohammed Sabir of Tajganj, Daul Ifta, the cell that issues fatwa, said on Friday that since humans are not the masters of their bodies and are only its caretaker, it is not desirable for a Muslim to donate or sell his eyes.

Such a will shall remain illogical and those who carry out such a will after the person’s death will also be considered as offenders, the fatwa stated. It said that the when the detached organ is transplanted into another person, that specific part of the body becomes useless and impure.

The Darul has, however, stated that in case of emergency situation, blood transfusion can be allowed to save lives.
