In Indonesia, members of Hizb ut-Tahrir, the Islamist organization that seeks the re-establishment of a global caliphate under Shariah law, recently held protests against higher fuel prices.

SFW readers may recall that Hizb ut-Tahrir in America held a conference in Chicago a couple of years ago calling for an end to capitalism to be replaced by Shariah.

We can’t help but find it ironic that a Jihadist organization would protest high fuel prices when it is their Islamic co-religionists in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait and elsewhere that control the world oil market. Not surprisingly, Hizb ut-Tahrir doesn’t blame the Islamic nations that actually own the oil reserves and control exploration and drilling activity. They blame “foreign oil corporations,” which is code for blaming the West.

Blaming the West for the high price of a commodity controlled largely by the Islamic world is, well, insane. Here is the current list of OPEC members:

Algeria

Angola

Ecuador

Iran

Iraq

Kuwait

Libya

Nigeria

Qatar

Saudi Arabia

United Arab Emirates

Venezuela

Nine of the twelve members of OPEC are Islamic.
