A U.S. District Judge sentenced Amera Akl of Ohio to just over three years in prison after she and her husband had pleaded guilty in May to their involvement in a plot to send money to Hezbollah.

Akl reportedly told the judge that she knew that up to $1 million would be going to Hezbollah, but her lawyer maintains that she did not take part in the plot for political reasons, but was motivated by money.

She had agreed to a plea deal to avoid a possible 40-year sentence.

We believe it is too bad that she didn’t get the 40-year sentence. No matter what the supposed motivation, plotting to send $1 million to Hezbollah, a Jihadist terrorist organization that is an enemy of the United States, should get someone sent to prison for longer than 3 years…
