For those who ignore the issue of zakat in Shariah-Compliant Finance, the photograph below should be a revelation. It shows an executive with a Malaysian Islamic Bank handing over a zakat payment to a zakat official with the Malaysian government.

At this point we don’t know if a portion of that money will end up supporting violent jihad. In the past, Malaysia has not been implicated in such activity, though government officials have from time to time been quoted as making some disturbing statements about Jews and Islamic supremacy.

Nevertheless, the fact remains that, in all four schools of Islamic jurisprudence under Shariah, the seventh either required or acceptable destination for zakat is “Those fighting for Allah.” This is spelled out very clearly in Islamic law texts.

This is probably why so many Islamic charities have been revealed to have funded Jihadist terrorist organizations.
