The Free Syria Army is collapsing due to lack of funds and its fighters are defecting to Jabhat al-Nusra, an Al Qaeda affiliate waging Jihad against the Assad regime.
Jabhat al-Nusra’s funding is said to chiefly come from Saudi Arabia and the UAE. If the Sauds and Emiratis are funding Al Qaeda in Syria, why are we expected to believe they aren’t finding Al Qaeda elsewhere?
Gulf states led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates continues to bankroll better-armed hard-line opposition groups, including those affiliated with Al Qaeda such as Jabhat al-Nusra (“Nusra Front”), according to Arab and Western officials. The Nusra Front is believed to share some of the same leadership as Al Qaeda in Iraq and Syria.
